It started with Spocket. In 2017 I wanted to open an online store and had nothing to sell, so I emailed 400 suppliers. Almost none of them wanted to work with a retailer that small. Spocket became the answer to that problem, and it now connects hundreds of thousands of stores to vetted suppliers across Shopify, Amazon, Wix, and Squarespace.
In 2021 I founded Innovation Labs, a software holding company. Rather than raise a round for each new idea, we fund products from the group's own operations. Today Innovation Labs runs 14 software products used by more than a million monthly active merchants.
ILA Capital is the next step: a $50M acquisition fund, financed entirely from our balance sheet, buying profitable internet and software businesses that remove bottlenecks for ecommerce merchants. No outside LPs, no clock, no pressure to sell.
The most interesting question in software right now is which parts of a business still need people. I'm building to find out.
